[Before he talked with Ino and Zuko, he can be found out in cargo bay- just as Toph sensed. He's currently punching away at a punching bag like it personally cheated him out of some money- unlike his usual much calmer routines. There's a good amount of aggression to work out, after all.]

[It takes him a bit to notice that Toph is there, but eventually he starts to wear himself out that he does feel some eyes "staring" at his back. So eventually he turns and- totally jumps out of surprise]

- Ah! How long have you been there?!

Long enough. [By this point, she's leaning against the wall, picking her toes. He's probably seen this before at least. Toph gives it a good while before she answers, flicking away some gunk before she does so. Lovely.

Her feet tap lightly agains the metallic floor when she shoves off the crate.]

You're a lot more firebender than usual. [She punches towards the bag to demonstrate. Despite the fact she's a few feet away, it moves with force equal to her strike. Yay selective earthbending!

Toph lowers her arm, crossing both of them.]

What she said really got to you, didn't it?

[That's so gross Toph....you're so lucky he's used to the disgusting levels of hygiene that is the 19th century lower class, so he only wrinkles his nose a little. The punching of the bag gets some attention, at least makes him...step away from it a bit before it hits him]

[But ugh...sounds like she wanted to talk about it. He lifts his arm and wipes sweat from his brow]

Well, yeah- it pissed me off some.

[bolder]

Just some. [Yeah, okay, sure. She moves to the side, bringing her hand in with a jerking motion, the bag straightening immediately.]

She does that better than anyone I've ever met. [She nods her head towards the back.]

How about something that gives you a challenge now. [It's not a question.]

[That...piques his interest. The acknowledgement of Katara skill and the challenge. Since hey, this sounds way better than talking things out. Especially when he was still in the fist flying part of his mood]

What sort of challenge?

[There's a scoffing noise in response to his question.]

There's sand in here, Allen. I can make it hit back and dodge. Or harden into rock or whatever I feel like. Come on.

[Toph knows how he feels. Katara can be a good for nothing know it all who lectures someone any chance she gets, simply based on her morally superior mindset without even fully understanding things. Right now, Allen's about at this frame of mind. She's personally been there.

She's also been farther down that train of thought, where she sees it from Katara's perspective, and she knows Allen will get there soon enough. At the moment, he doesn't need another lecture or badgered apologies. He needs someone who gets it and will work with him. Of course they'll talk about it, but that'll be after he's worked past the indignation and offense.]

Make sure you're staying connected to the ground. No super weird leaping attacks or I can't work with it, okay?

[For being blind, Toph sure sees a lot more than she lets on.]

[He mulls that over a moment before he nods and moves back into a fighting stance. Yeah. That seems like a more sufficient challenge. It's really not the same when it never hits back]

Okay! I'll do that! Bring your worst!

[bolder]

Not my worst, but I'll make it worth your while.

[Sadly, since it's only a swinging bag, there's not that much she can do with it. For now, she hardens a section of the bottom and aims it towards Allen's midsection.]
