Did you know how Theon ended up being how he is with the Starks?
Text;
Why do you ask?
Text;
So okay. His father rose up and rebelled against their father, who like...ruled their area of land? I don't quite get it. Anyway, as a punishment, their father took Theon from his dad and basically kept him there to stop him rising up against them again.
Text;
So he was basically raised as a hostage?
That'd...explain him not having any loyalty for the Starks.
Text;
Preeeeetty much. I mean, Robb was surprised that he betrayed them for his own father, given he was raised with the Stark and all. And I can get being betrayed by someone you thought you could trust, but...
Well, given he's been a kidnap victim his whole life, it's really hard to blame him for it.
Text;
[Cool motive, still murder.]
I'm not surprised Robb's surprised though. He seems to hold his father up to very high esteem- it'd be hard for him to fathom his father making a wrong choice.
Text;
...Yeah, I know how that feels. But then again my father didn't literally kidnap someone and raise them with our family, so.
Text;
[Allen meanwhile knew a bit more what it was like to deeply love a father who turned out to be not what they seemed. But that's a bit more personal than he's willing to get right now in regards to Mana, so he'll not respond to that second part and focus on the first]
Bran told me. When Theon's forces invaded Winterfell, they wanted Bran dead, so there'd be no heirs to Winterfell.
But he escaped, so Theon killed other children so he could claim that he did.
Text;
That's...really messed up. Jeez.
[Seriously, what's wrong with you, Westeros? ]
Text;
It's nice, though. That you're trying to understand where he's coming from.
Text;
I get wanting to impress his father, wanting to be with him even if the war separated them. But what's worse he was actually kidnapped. I mean, I like to think the best of the Starks, they're on our crew an all. But why is that a thing that seems to be okay to them?
Text;
[And oh, that gets a pause as he tries to figure out how to answer it diplomatically.]
Because the Starks put House Stark first.
Text;
Ugh. Do you think Westeros will ever NOT be a writhing mess of a world? Because I'm really starting to wonder.
Text;
I wouldn't put my money on it, no.
Text;
[Everything changed when the Fire Nation were defeated.]
But Westeros is a BIG mess.
Text;
Yeah, I know.
If I had my way, I wouldn't send the Starks back there.
Text;
Me either. I mean, I know home for me isn't exactly roses and sunshine, but it's better than there. And at least it's a little closer to what they're used to.
...Though they probably wouldn't be all that comfortable with the bending.
Text;
Yeah, they probably wouldn't be comfortable with it. On the other hand, they did get used to being in space.
Text;
True. And it's not like EVERYONE EVER bends. They could easily find a quiet village and just make a go of it there.

[Mostly because there's so few OF them, but details. ]
